Carlo Reda opened his wool mill in Valle Mosso, in the Italian Alps north of Biella, in 1865. The Botto Poala family took over in 1919 and has run it ever since — four generations, same village, same river water used for washing the wool. In 1993 Reda did something unusual: it bought its own sheep farm in New Zealand. Today it owns three stations — Otamatapaio, Rugged Ridges, and Glenrock — covering 30,000 merino sheep across roughly 74,000 acres. That means when you order a Reda suit, the wool in it was grown, sheared, combed, spun, dyed, woven, and finished by one company. Almost no other mill at this price point can say that.
Why this matters if you live in Dubai
Two things. First, Reda was the first vertical-cycle wool mill in Europe to earn EMAS environmental certification, and in 2020 became the first Italian textile company to achieve B Corporation status. If sustainability is a factor in how you buy clothes, there is no tailor-grade wool mill in the world with a cleaner record. Second, and more practically — Reda’s Super 110s and 120s wools are built for rotation. They hold shape through humidity, survive the car-to-office-to-dinner cycle that defines Dubai life, and recover overnight on a hanger. Finer numbers (150s and above) are available when you want them, but the mill’s reputation is built on daily wearability, not fragility.

Milano Jacket
A light-structure jacketing cloth built for unlined or half-lined jackets. This is the one I suggest for clients who want a tailored look for weekend brunches at Bluewaters or travel to Europe in shoulder seasons. It holds a soft lapel roll without looking stiff.
Super 110s Suiting
The workhorse. If you are building your first Reda suit, this is almost always my recommendation. Super 110s wool sits around 18.5–19 microns, which is fine enough to feel refined but robust enough to wear three days a week without wearing out. Suitsupply, Moss Bros, and dozens of bespoke houses worldwide use this exact weight for the same reason.
Super 130s Suiting
The step up. Around 17.5 microns. Drapes more softly and photographs better than 110s, while still holding up to regular wear. This is the sweet spot for most Dubai professionals — refined enough for client meetings, durable enough for daily rotation.
Super 150s Suiting & Wool-Cashmere Blends
The dress-up option. At Super 150s the wool gets noticeably softer and slightly more delicate — you would not wear this to a construction site visit. Cashmere blends add quiet warmth and a softer hand, which makes them our pick for evening jackets and winter weddings in January and February.
Flannel Jackets & Suits
Heavier, textured, and best kept for Dubai’s short cool season. A flannel jacket over charcoal trousers is one of the most underrated wardrobe combinations in this city — and a Reda flannel holds its hand beautifully for years.

Open-weave fabrics that breathe. If you fly often, work in a building where the A/C is unpredictable, or prefer a jacket you can wear into August without feeling trapped, this is the collection to look at.

Frequently asked questions about Reda suits
Yes — particularly the Super 110s and 120s wools in weights around 240–260 g/m². Merino wool naturally regulates temperature, and Reda’s finishing process leaves the cloth breathable enough to handle the car-to-office cycle without sticking. Flannels and heavier weights are better kept for the November–February window.
The number refers to fiber fineness. Super 110s sits around 18.5–19 microns (more robust, better for daily wear). Super 150s sits around 16.5 microns (finer, softer, but more delicate). For a first suit, we usually recommend 110s or 130s. Save 150s for occasion wear.
Reda is more conservative in pricing and positioning, but every bit as vertically integrated — it owns its own New Zealand farms, which is rare at this tier. Zegna and Loro Piana lean into ultra-fine Super 160s+ territory for luxury clients; Reda’s strength is dependable, sustainable wool in the 110s–150s range that real working wardrobes are built on.
